Indian National Rupee Currency Symbol on the Web
Indian National Rupee get its own Currency Symbol : `
But what’s the way to type the currency symbol using your existing keyboard ? Well, in future the Indian keyboard manufactures will give a way to type it. That’s for sure.
For now, there is a font available: Rupee Foradian.ttf. Which allows to print the sign ‘`‘ by typing ‘`’.
What about the web ? Say you want to display the symbol on your site in some content. But the end user may not be having the required font installed on its own computer system. That will not make any sense.
But still there is a way to do it. You can generate the Font Squirrel kit to make it displayed on your websites. However knowledge of CSS will be needed.
As you can see below, I am using the same kit to print the Indian National Rupee symbol. If you are able to see the correct symbol below, the kit is working perfectly.

Hello,
It is much easier than what you suggested. WebRupee.com has come with a solution that turns Rs / Rs. to the rupee symbol. And its very lightweight.
Thet have developed a web application, an API. That needs no installation, conversion and cross browser testing.
Works seemlessly on all major browsers.
Thanks

Checkout http://webrupee.com for the api.
